Savannah CASA For Children

How Can You Help?

As a citizen volunteer you will get involved in a child's life when he or she most needs a friend. You may interview people involved with the case to help determine the child's needs.

CASA is central to fulfilling society’s most fundamental obligation by making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child’s right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family. You can lift up a child’s voice. A child’s life.

Savannah Chatham CASA is taking applications for our Training Course which will begin February 5. Contact Samantha Oughtred at or 912-663-9728 for more information.

Why Are CASA Volunteers So Important?

CASA volunteers are deeply committed, specially trained to advocate for each child’s best interest and how to get those interests met by the system; they fight against all odds, power and bureaucracy; fight until each child can understand and advocate for his unalienable rights; fight so children can live a life of destiny, rather than fate.

How Can You Help?

Through individualized attention, CASA volunteers advocate for the best interests of Georgia’s abused and neglected children.  Bringing urgency to a child’s needs, both in and out of the courtroom, CASA volunteers promote safety, permanency and well-being through independent recommendations.

As community partners in the child welfare system, CASA volunteers increase abused and neglected children’s access to services, promote safety, and advocate for timeliness and permanency for children involved in juvenile court proceedings. CASA volunteers are independent advocates and provide individualized attention for children in a massive state system.

Consider becoming a Friend of CASA by offering your unique talents and expertise on special projects and events throughout the year. We want you to work with us in ways that are of interest to you and that will aid the growth of our program.

Additionally, we offer the Ambassadors of CASA subsidiary committee for high school youth and young adults under the age of twenty-one (21) who believe in the mission of CASA and wish to join us through volunteer opportunities. For those who are unable to serve as Volunteer Advocates, service on a committee is a wonderful opportunity to become involved with our program.
